Press Conference of the Co-Chairs of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation of the RA National Assembly and RF Federal Assembly

The Co-Chairs of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation of the RA National Assembly and RF Federal Assembly Nikolai Ryzhkov and Hermine Naghdalyan wound up the works of the 21st sitting of the Committee held on November 29 during the press conference followed the sitting. The NA Deputy Speaker highlighted among the discussed themes the issue of the Armenian-Russian cooperation in the sphere of youth policy. The participants touched upon in connection with that the existing legislative basis, the pursuing policy, the joint programmes under implementation. Hermine Naghdalyan said that as a result of lively discussion a protocol had been adopted, where a number of recommendations were included in relation to further development of cooperation, new possible projects in the sphere of policy, among them the education, culture, development of humanitarian ties and youth parliament.

The Committee has discussed and established the two-year programme of the activity, as well as the agenda of the next sitting to be held in May of the coming year. The agenda items are the analysis of the integration processes and the issues concerning the enlivening of the Armenian-Russian cooperation in the sphere of small and medium entrepreneurship. A special sitting is scheduled in connection with the second item.

The Co-Chairs effectively assessed the works of the Yerevan sitting of the Committee. Nikolai Ryzhkov highlighted the regular holding of the sittings of the Committee twice a year, noting that both sides fulfill concerned, purposeful works. He has emphasized the fact that year by year the number of the MPs, who wish to join the Inter-Parliamentary Committee. In Nikolai Ryzhkov’s word, Russia has special relations with Armenia, as well as the bilateral ties at the most different levels: the relations rather seriously develop at inter-parliamentary plane. “It would be better that the economic cooperation develop as dynamic, as the inter-state relations,” the Co-Chair from the Russian side noted.

He thanked the leadership of the Armenian Parliament and the Armenian counterparts for the organization of the works at best and concerned and practical discussions. Nikolai Ryzhkov informed those present that the delegation of the twelve-member representation of the Russian MPs would also visit Spitak and Gyumri to get acquainted with the restoration works on the spot.

Hermine Naghdalyan and Nikolai Ryzhkov also answered the journalists’ questions.
